ISO House Dress #2 - Simplicity 5982, 1965

Well here's another attempt at House Dress #2. This time a "house coat/robe style" and robe it was.

Seemed simple enough and met the basic requirement of no zipper in the back! How hard could it be?

I bought some fabric that was kind of like a seer sucker (but not) last summer. Joanne's calls this:

Ember Knit Print Jaquard Textured Fabric Pink Grey Diamond:

Another raglan sleeve but overall pretty basic. I chose "View 2, with collar". All went well with this pattern as I did not have to grade at all! So I did not make a muslin for this dress and went all in. Then disaster...I forgot to cut the sleeves individually. The reason this is important is because you have to flip the pattern to make the left and right fit properly. I did not have enough fabric now! So I also happened to buy pink "bubble gauze" last year and hoped it would look ok.

Construction was relatively easy but honestly it looked like a robe - I made it too long and it definitely needed a belt (insert kick myself because if I had not made it so long to begin with I probably would have had enough to fix the sleeve!)

Here's the finished result: It's over clothes so still bulky - I am not happy with the sleeves at all but since it's a house dress oh well. Also not sure this will be a SUMMER house dress - that fabric is not as breezy as expected
